Still a muppet.

I see Fabrice Muamba has decided to retire from football after his cardiac arrest earlier this year. I wish him well in the future and hope he can go on to have a long and happy life.

Unfortunately he is still thanking god for saving him "I thank God that I am alive" although in fairness he is also thanking the team who saved him, "I thank God that I am alive and I pay tribute once again to the members of the medical team who never gave up on me."

So he is thanking god for saving him but I don't see anywhere that he is thanking god for giving him his arrest in the first place.
The ability of the religious mind to fail to make any connections to reality never fails to amaze me. So we have to assume that it was a devil or some bad fairy that caused the initial collapse.

Bitter and twisted to the end, as befits your name and moniker. You clerly have no understanding of the Christian faith otherwise you would not make such crass comments.

Sorry to disappoint Anonymous, I understand the Christian faith very well. I was brought up in it, I attended church until I was 16 and my mother is still a regular church goer. Do you really not see the irony in thanking god for saving you from a cardiac event which, if he exists, he caused in the first place?

My name was very carefully chosen to reflect my demeanour and proclivities.

OK then, so you are now saying that your mother is a muppet and you used to be one? A bit disingenuous, I think.

GrumpyRN said...

Are you really that stupid?

Don't bother with the defence of the inarticulate or the unoriginal on the internet - "it's an ad hominem attack". It isn't, I am asking a question.

Did you read my post dated 22nd April 2012? http://grumpyrn.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/miracle-no-it-was-science-you-muppet.html

I agree with you GrumpyRN. It is fascinating to observe the very selective view of the world that those of faith seem to have.

It comes down to that old question. "If God is all powerful, why does he allow such terrible things to happen in the world? If, on the other hand, he is unable or unwilling to intercede on our behalf, why are people worshipping him and asking for his assistance?"

As a non-believer, this has always interested me.

Victor Meldrew, you are entitled to your opinions. However, it is your dismissive use ofthe term "Muppet" which I find distasteful. At least you are brighter than some of the other medical bloggers who try to be anonymous, unlike "The Ferret Fancier" who stupidly launched a petition using his real name, or "The Jobbing Doctor" who has left so many clues about his location then sent a post to his choir's Facebook page so that he can easily be identified. Never did find out who "Dr Crippen" was though....

"Muppet. Somebody who acts in a way that the speaker considers ignorant or idiotic - 'you're a muppet!' Very friendly kind of tone attached to this word, jocular, affectionate, even. It's much less forceful than, 'idiot' or 'prat' or 'fool'".

Did you read the post I pointed out and the comments afterwards?

Its a similar conundrum as to why so many people work in the compassionate health business yet are more concerned with pay rises and holidays than making sure old folk are treated well (Mr Pink and a few others being notable exceptions).

Blame the management and cuts. Not going to do anything to lose my job. Where else will I get terms and conditions like this without going abroad?

Now where's my holiday and overtime sheet.

It is truely unfortunate that they never stop to wonder why it happened to begin with....sure its good to thank God he's still alive and the team who saved his life but why not wonder why it happened to begin with? was some one trying to tell him some thing? and did he listen or get it? I have been trying to change my habits of late simply cause I know that if I dont I will be having a very big problem and with all the meds Im already on who knows if a team could even save this sorry soul? I for one would be thinking what someone would be trying to tell me if I had a heart attack. then I would try to fix what ever I was doing that I thought needed fixing....I suppose for me it would be give more time to those who need help.

Even the name your blog gives off an instant negativity about nursing. And I am only required to read one or two posts to find that your unnecessary, bitter moaning conforms to this name (There was me hoping it was somewhat tongue-in-cheek - I would have been lucky!)

I think you are bigoted and bitter, and the image you convey of nurses is awful. If you want to moan about the world, you have every right to. You shouldn't put this to the fact you are a nurse though, because of the impression it gives. It is highly unprofessional.

Stop poisoning the profession with your moans that imply you do not enjoy nursing and that patients are simply a nuisance to you. Do you not think nursing has enough of a bad name in the press now, without you adding to it!?

Nurses like you anger me - you think because you've been a nurse for over 25 years you know everything, and you think because you can use long words you are clever. Well, you don't know everything and you're not clever at all. You are rude, and it makes me feel sick to think you are representing nursing as a profession.

Why thank you for visiting and commenting Anonymous of 7 August 2013.

"Nurses like you anger me - you think because you've been a nurse for over 25 years you know everything"

- No, I know a lot though.

"and you think because you can use long words you are clever. Well, you don't know everything and you're not clever at all."

- I only use words that you think are long, more than 2 syllables is not necessarily long but yes I am clever. I even have qualifications.

"You are rude"

- and your point is.....?

"and it makes me feel sick to think you are representing nursing as a profession"

I don't represent anything except myself.

I have been a nurse for a lot longer than 25 years, if I did not enjoy it I would have left long ago.
I'm glad you visited but would be happier if you had left a contact address so we can continue this, otherwise you are just a troll.

In conclusion, your poorly worded, unwarranted, attack on me is a waste of both our times. Yours because you are a waste of space and if you want to rant do it under your own name as it at least would show a bit of courage (even a nom de guerre like mine would do). Until you do you are classed the same as the teenage girls who bully people anonymously.

So finally, let me just say; piss off you moron. You are a child with poor manners and I hope you do read this.

By denoting that you are a nurse to the public on this blog, you immediately commence representing the nursing profession and have a duty to uphold the reputation of the profession (NMC Code, 2008).

That's all I shall say on the matter. If I were you I would consult the aforementioned code of conduct for nurses and midwives and consider what it means to you, both in your personal and working life. Good day to you.

I, too, have come upon this blog post long after it was written.

You have a quick mind, Grumpy Nurse, and it is delightful to behold. But --you are awfully quick to use it for sarcasm.
I shall pray that you use the gifts God gave you, to learn more about Him.
I guarantee that you will be shocked (that you missed so much in life about how He works), and delighted (again, by how He works, and that you have found Him at last).

Have a Blessed and Merry Christmas!

Toward the end of it, you ought to never self-sedate yourself to kamagra. Your therapeutic history should be assessed before prescribing it since it is deadly to people who are under whatever other drug containing nitrates. So be alert and continue simply after you get a green flag from the specialist. With that guaranteed, the prizes are expansive.
